MOUNTAINSCAPES FROM KAZBEK

alpine postcards from the Georgia – Russia border

Photography by Martin Hefti

In mid June, our alpine skills course returned from Georgia. Tackling the slopes of Mount Kazbek (the country’s third highest peak) and the Gergeti Glacier – on the Russian border the team developed their mountaineering skills including the use of ropes, ice axes and crampons, glacier travel and crevasse rescue with the look to inform their own alpine adventures in years to come.

Amongst the team was Swiss alpine enthusiast and keen photographer Martin Hefti. Luckily for us, alongside brushing up his skillset, he found time to capture some of the best mountainscapes from the Caucasus we’ve seen.
