In the heart of the Balkans, Kosovo is a country which has been haunted by civil war and ethical conflicts. A little over two decades after the break-up of Yugoslavia which brought so much violence and unrest to the region, the country’s ski and snowboarding communities breathe new life into the mountain resorts which once thrived, exploring how mountain sports can connect people once again.
The video guides you through this forgotten world exploring how a future can be built if the past still weighs so heavily as nationalism and division rises in much of Europe.
Among the communities we meet in this video is Benny, who works in the region as an expert for rural development on behalf of the german government:
“We have to overcome these very limits logics of nations, of populist rhetorics and arguments and we have to consider diversity and pluralism as our main asset,” he explains.
