WHAT IT TAKES TO CLIMB EL CAPITAN

in record breaking time

In October 2017, Brad Gobright and Jim Reynolds set a new speed record for The Nose route on El Capitan. What generally takes accomplished climbers several days to achieve, they completed the 3,000-ft climb in 2 hours and 19 minutes. This mesmerising time-lapse documents their ascent pitch by pitch, consolidating their climb into a seven minute time lapse. Ridiculous.

Since this speed record was set, Alex Honnold of course famously scaled the same face without ropes. Experience his gut-wrenching climb in 360 here.
